Andover is part of the excellent Anoka-Hennepin School District 11. There are five different schools within the Andover area: Andover Elementary School, Crooked Lake Elementary, Rum River Elementary, Oak View Middle School, and Andover High School. Andover High School is the newest high school in the Anoka-Hennepin School District, and not only participates in the University of Minnesota's College in the Schools program, but offers sports with students with special needs. There are also a number of private schools in Andover, including: Legacy Christian Academy, Bunker Hills Academy, and Meadow Creek Christian School.
Andover is home to the Anoka-Ramsey Community College, a unique community college that in addition to offering associate degrees, also offers four-year and graduate degrees in a variety of subjects including business, nursing, and special education.
Andover's economy is continuing to grow at an extremely rapid pace. A number of new businesses have popped up in the city over the years, and the city is currently marketing several tracts in Andover Station North, a commercial/retail area. Andover offers basketball leagues and classes, as well as skating lessons, hockey teams, and ice skating at the Andover Community Center Ice Arena. Soccer leagues are also quite popular in Andover, as well as volleyball. The city's YMCA offers camps, personal training, fitness classes, and swimming teams/lessons.
The Woodland Creek Golf Club is the city's premiere golf course and a true hidden gem for golfers. Designed by Joel Goldstrand, the course features nine holes and has a slope rating of 118. Andover is also located near quite a few prominent cross country ski trails, which is a very popular pastime for residents during the winter months.
There are numerous parks located in Andover and Anoka County, many of which include hiking and biking trails, picnic tables, and even a few dog friendly parks.
